Wallace Buice spent his entire life entertaining his friends and family. He dedicated his career to performing, teaching and making sure that everyone always knew how he felt about the arts. He started performing in the mid 1930’s as a child, during “employee nights” at the Goodyear Mill, where his mother worked. Throughout high school, he continued to study his craft, and eventually ended up at Bob Jones College in Cleveland, TN (now Bob Jones University in South Carolina). There he met his future wife Ms. Betty Boone. He claimed while sitting in the dining hall, “I looked up and saw the most beautiful girl. I fell in love at sight.” Soon after their courtship began, he found out that she played the piano, and the two started performing together. After transferring to Asbury College, Wallace obtained his associate’s degree in speech and drama. Wallace taught school in Downey California, Fayetteville, North Carolina, before settling permanently in Carrollton, GA, where he taught at West Georgia College for many Years.
Taylor Buice has acted and directed all over the United States for many years. He is so blessed to be back in his home state, sharing what he loves to do with his Atlanta family. Directing credits include: Parade, Aida, The Thing About Men, Urinetown, Little Shop of Horrors, Tick, Tick, Boom!, Seussical, The Full Monty, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, Geppetto, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and many more.
Reading a good play or listening to a musical that brings me to tears is the best way for me to focus my goals and determine what I want and need to do next. Starting the Wallace Buice Theatre Company has been one of the joys of my life. Wallace Buice was my grandfather, an extraordinary performer and teacher. Growing up, I learned so much about what theatre is and what it should be from watching and listening to his stories. He was truly my inspiration for wanting to be a part of the theatre scene and I’m happy to use his name to promote it. This company will never settle for anything less than I know is achievable, and I will always strive as a director/producer to bring the best out of everyone.
